On the East Side there are always too many delicious eats to choose from, but when it comes to Vietnamese fare, Far East is a solid choice. This small restaurant is housed in the Shoppes on Fatherland. It’s the perfect spot to cozy up to a bowl of pho on a chilly Fall day, or enjoy warmer weather on under the twinkle lights on their patio. The menu features Vietnamese favorites – pho, banh mi, bun, and broken rice. The pho comes in a heaping bowl of steaming hot broth and noodles. You really can’t go wrong with any choice on the menu – vegetarians, pescetarians, and carnivores will be happy campers.
Tucked away in the Shoppes on Fatherland is one of our favorite places to find our next good read – Her Bookshop. This cozy little bookstore is full of books that we can’t wait to get our hands on. The selection is perfectly curated to offer you a wide variety of the best finds across a number of topics – art and photography, memoirs, cookbooks, classics, coloring books, you name it. Her Bookshop owner Joelle Herr is an author herself, so you can be certain she will have a number of excellent book recommendations if you’re not sure what you want to read next.
Lazzaroli Pasta has us wanting pasta every night of the week! Their motto is “pasta is the center of our universe,” and they really mean it. This adorable shop is located in the heart of Germantown right down the street from City House, Barista Parlor, and Poppy & Monroe. Check out their many flavors of ravioli, linguine, pasta sauce, and more!
With new restaurants opening every week in Nashville, Salt & Vine stands out as one of the best new spots in town. Make the trek to West Nashville for your next date night, because Salt & Vine does not disappoint! Start with the burrata. Creamy, fresh burrata and crispy bread served with fresh tomatoes and watermelon makes for a perfect way to start your meal.
Vui’s Kitchen is Berry Hill’s newest buzzed about addition, and it lives up to the hype. The menu is simple, and simply delicious! When we stopped in for a bite, we tried the Lotus Root salad – a hearty serving of lotus rootlets, shrimp, carrots, arugula, and packed with flavor. Next on our list to try: the Banh Mi and the Pho. A warm bowl of pho sounds like the perfect thing to get us ready for fall. Get a fresh, healthy meal that you won’t soon forget at Vui’s Kitchen!
Third Man Records is cooler than cool. Jack White’s Nashville outpost houses recording studios, art exhibition spaces, hidden hangout gardens, and a gift shop with everything under the sun inside. We imagine Jack White’s house is decorated in the same style as this crazy cool place.
We’re always on the lookout for jewelry that will spice up our wardrobe, which is why we love stopping by the Judith Bright store on 12 South. Created by Nashville-based designer and the jewelry’s namesake, Judith Bright, you can splurge on yourself knowing you’re supporting a local maker. Looking for new arm candy? Choose from a beautiful assortment of ornate cuffs, simple clasp bracelets with semi-precious stones, and beaded bracelets. You can shop the collection in person or online – we definitely suggest checking it out in person to admire all of the pieces and see the workshop in action!
Bastion Kitchen is making magic in food form in the WeHo area of town. This 24 seat restaurant serves a multi-course meal to each of its guests from an a la carte menu that is out of this world. We elected to take advantage of each course on the five-course menu and wish that we’d had more room to fit the cheese course too! Once you’re seated, you’ll receive a menu printed with each course, each listing three options for every one. The descriptions on the menu are minimal (think: Grouper + Peanut), but you’re server will explain the tasty details (sauteed grouper served in a peanut broth and topped with an array of tiny chopped herbs).
The summer is coming to an end, and we’re loving the feeling of fall creeping in. While summer is packed with music festivals all around the country, we’ve been counting down to one of our favorite festivals right here in the Nashville area. The Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival is coming up on it’s second year in town, and we couldn’t be more excited. While you can find incredible music and talent around Nashville any night of the week, Pilgrimage Fest is a special experience bringing together local and out of town talent all in one weekend. Bring a chair or blanket to set up a spot for the day, and bring a jacket for any weather (you never know in Tennessee!). And most importantly, prepare yourself for a full day of great music!
