McKay’s

McKay’s is a literary wonderland, on the cheap! Imagine a warehouse filled with row upon row of books, and you’d be close to imagining McKay’s. This Tennessee chain (other locations in Knoxville and Chattanooga) makes us want to read, read, and read some more. When you first walk in, you’ll notice a large desk to…

Nashville

Thankful.

It’s Thanksgiving week, and we know that 2016 has been a tough year for many of you. And yet, we have so much to be thankful for here in Nashville, so we wanted to take some time to notice some of the good in our beautiful city as we move into the holiday season. In case you haven’t noticed, Nashville has been growing! And with growth has come a lot of new bites, sips, and things to do and see. We’re so thankful for the food on our tables each morning, noon, and night. We’re also grateful that folks in the community are working hard so that everyone can have access to nutritious meals. We’re so very thankful for this community, and we wish all of you a very happy Thanksgiving holiday!

Local Honey Nashville

Local Honey

Local Honey is your one stop shop to shop for fun vintage and consignment clothing and accessories and get your hair done. Yes, that’s right – they sell clothes and cut hair, as their motto describes. We weren’t sure what to make of this combo, but when we stopped in to check it out, it made perfect sense! What better way to treat yourself than with a fresh new cut and a new outfit to match? Leather jackets and boots, vintage bags, funky dresses and denim, and cozy flannel fill the racks – it’s hard to walk away empty handed. And don’t forget, you can also get your hair cut and styled while you’re there!

Her Bookstore Nashville

Her Bookshop

Tucked away in the Shoppes on Fatherland is one of our favorite places to find our next good read – Her Bookshop. This cozy little bookstore is full of books that we can’t wait to get our hands on. The selection is perfectly curated to offer you a wide variety of the best finds across a number of topics – art and photography, memoirs, cookbooks, classics, coloring books, you name it. Her Bookshop owner Joelle Herr is an author herself, so you can be certain she will have a number of excellent book recommendations if you’re not sure what you want to read next.

Sisters of Nature

The motto for Sisters of Nature is “socially conscious style for the modern bohemian woman” and in their East Nashville store, that’s exactly the vibe you’ll get when you walk in. If you’ve been wanting to make more ethically-conscious shopping decisions, Sisters of Nature makes it easy to find stylish pieces at reasonable prices. When you peruse the store, you can check the labels to see where an item was made or ask the friendly staff for more information. And in their online store, the items are marked with where it was made to make it easy to proudly support local Nashville designers. Be sure to check out their blog where you’ll find great features on local businesses, designers, and style tips!

FLWR Shop Nashville

FLWR Shop

We can’t say enough good things about FLWR shop! This East Nashville gem doesn’t look anything like your grandma’s go-to florist. The FLWR shop team has updated the florist experience and environment. We highly recommend ordering your next bouquet for delivery or your own enjoyment from this team.

Third Man Records Nashville

Third Man Records

Third Man Records is cooler than cool. Jack White’s Nashville outpost houses recording studios, art exhibition spaces, hidden hangout gardens, and a gift shop with everything under the sun inside. We imagine Jack White’s house is decorated in the same style as this crazy cool place.

Judith Bright Nashville

Judith Bright

We’re always on the lookout for jewelry that will spice up our wardrobe, which is why we love stopping by the Judith Bright store on 12 South. Created by Nashville-based designer and the jewelry’s namesake, Judith Bright, you can splurge on yourself knowing you’re supporting a local maker. Looking for new arm candy? Choose from a beautiful assortment of ornate cuffs, simple clasp bracelets with semi-precious stones, and beaded bracelets. You can shop the collection in person or online – we definitely suggest checking it out in person to admire all of the pieces and see the workshop in action!

Pilgrimage Fest

Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival

The summer is coming to an end, and we’re loving the feeling of fall creeping in. While summer is packed with music festivals all around the country, we’ve been counting down to one of our favorite festivals right here in the Nashville area. The Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival is coming up on it’s second year in town, and we couldn’t be more excited. While you can find incredible music and talent around Nashville any night of the week, Pilgrimage Fest is a special experience bringing together local and out of town talent all in one weekend. Bring a chair or blanket to set up a spot for the day, and bring a jacket for any weather (you never know in Tennessee!). And most importantly, prepare yourself for a full day of great music!
