Third Man Records is cooler than cool. Jack White’s Nashville outpost houses recording studios, art exhibition spaces, hidden hangout gardens, and a gift shop with everything under the sun inside. We imagine Jack White’s house is decorated in the same style as this crazy cool place.
Step into a red, yellow, blue, black, and white wonderland. Almost each and every thing in this place falls into that color range. The front room of the gift shop has glass cases full of memorabilia that you can look at but can’t touch (think some of Jack’s Grammy awards and collectibles he’s found along the way. The staff is super friendly and will answer any questions you may have. They’ll also provide you with the tokens you need to operate all the kitschy machines located throughout the shop.
Purchase a few tokens, and you could walk away with a record of your own creation, a wax figurine, or a keepsake photo booth session printed out for you. There’s even a machine that houses a miniature monkey figure band. They’ll play their guitars and clang their symbols for you!
As for other keepsakes, Third Man offers a genre-spanning collection of records. The also offer some awesome shirts and memorabilia from all the musical acts that have come through the doors or have offered inspiration up to Third Man artists.
Third Man is definitely on the cool tourist’s to-do list, and it should be on locals’ lists too. Be sure to check out Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown latest episode for some Third Man action and other great Nashville spots.
