The summer is nearing a close, but don’t fret! We still have another month of our favorite weekly activity – visiting the 12 South Farmer’s Market. Nashville is lucky enough to have several neighborhood markets that run all summer long, and the 12 South market is one of our favorites. From May to October, Sevier Park is always bustling full of Nashvillians on Tuesday afternoons.
From produce to baked goods to fresh flowers, you’ll find everything you need for a delicious home-cooked meal, a picnic in the park, or a gift for a loved one at the 12 South Farmer’s Market. Vendors vary depending on the month, so come often for the best of what’s in season. Stock up on fresh produce from Delvin Farms, Bountiful Blessings, and more. Starting in mid-May, you’ll find The Peach Truck selling bags of their famous fresh Georgia peaches or Kelly’s Berry Farm selling ripe blueberries and blackberries by the carton.
Create the perfect cheese plate with a baguette from Dozen Bakery, fresh goat cheese from Noble Farms (their pimento goat cheese is our favorite), and yummy jams from the Nashville Jam Co (the peach bourbon is divine). And of course you can also grab salsa and corn chips, fresh pasta, flavored butters, coffee from Eighth & Roast, and more – the variety at the market is seriously impressive all summer long!
Looking to treat yourself? Pick up a bouquet of flowers from Humble Flowers (or even sign up for their flower CSA), grab a cup of tea from Firepot Chai, or check out one of the many free market events that go on throughout the summer (free yoga? yes please!). Bonus – there are always great food trucks at the market (can you say The Grilled Cheeserie?) so you can enjoy dinner at the park after you finish perusing the booths.
The 12 South Farmer’s Market is the perfect way to spend your summer afternoons with friends, family, or the pup and to support local vendors!
