The Birdhouse knows how to fry some chicken! Don’t let this restaurant’s location deter you from trying its oh so tasty dishes. We’ll admit, we were skeptical when we arrived – The Birdhouse shares a lot with a gas station in East Nashville. You’d be missing out on some majorly awesome Korean Fried Chicken.

Park your car and walk up to the window to place your order (once you receive your order, take it with you or hangout at the picnic tables behind the building). Choose from wings, drumsticks, or tenders fried and tossed in a wide variety of sauces – Asian BBQ to sweet soy garlic. The chicken is double fried to add an extra layer of crunch while keeping the meat tender. It makes the perfect combo of tender, juicy, crunchy, and hot!

Chicken not your thing? Be sure to check out their specials menu – you’ll find anything from korean fried tofu sandwiches to lettuce wraps with your choice of meat. Their specials rotate each week.

Or do what we do and get an order of the bibimbap! You’ll receive a bowl of fluffy rice, slivered carrots, kimchi greens, pickled vegetables, and a poached egg with some sweet/savory/spicy gochujang sauce. Add marinated mushrooms every day and different types of meat depending on the special that day. We’re hardly ever able to finish the full order and always find ourselves making a big plate of fried rice with extra scrambled eggs the next day with the leftovers.

If you still have room though, we highly recommend a side of the togarashi fries. These are skinny and crispy, tossed in a Japanese spice blend. And the bag of them seems endless! Grab a side of one of the Korean Fried Chicken sauces to dip them in too. Yum!
