Looking at Big Al’s menu, you might think the food sounds good. But after your first bite, you’ll realize it’s way better than good – it’s great!! We tried out Big Al’s for breakfast on a Saturday. We ordered the Big Al’s Breakfast (two eggs, biscuit, bacon, and hashbrowns) and the bacon biscuit (with fried egg and cheese). The biscuits were big and the perfect textural balance – fluffy on the inside with a crunchier crust on the top. The bacon was thick and flavorful, and the hashbrowns were to die for. We’ll be back to try their lunch specials and some of their sweeter breakfast options soon!
We know what you are thinking – can baked treats that are vegan and gluten-free really be that delicious? The answer is yes! Vegan Vee Gluten-Free Bakery makes all of your favorite baked goods, and we promise you won’t miss the eggs, dairy, or gluten. If it’s your first visit to the bakery, we recommend trying one of their donuts. The flavors change regularly, but the chocolate is one of their staples. Our favorite goodie we’ve tried so far at Vegan Vee is their cookie sandwich. Chocolate chip cookies with a creamy filling and chocolate drizzled on top.

Bread & Company has been a longtime staple in Nashville, and the location on West End Avenue recently underwent an impressive facelift. With the remodel comes a totally new B & Co attitude. We’ve been back several times since the updates, and the staff is always extra friendly, attentive, and service is fast. For a real treat, we recommend the grilled cheese and tomato basil soup. It’s one of our go to comfort meals since our days at Vanderbilt! Check out the new and improved Bread & Co, and keep an eye out for the re-opening of their Green Hills location soon.

Nicoletto’s started by making small batch pastas in every shape you can imagine and often in inventive flavors like chipotle lime. They then expanded into the Italian Kitchen restaurant and storefront where you can buy fresh pasta in bulk or order a bowl with toppings of your choice to eat right in the store. Better yet, you can take your bowl of pasta over to Mickey’s Tavern right next door and order a beer to go with it.

Clawson’s tagline is “good brews, tasty grub, decent company.” We’d like to think the last part is “excellent company” but the good brews and tasty grub is definitely on point. his sandwich shop and pub is located in Track One, which is also home to artisan studios (Freshie and Zero) and a handful of other companies. We’ll be back again soon for another lunch time treat. Be sure to check out the weekly specials board – home to inventive limited-time-only sandwiches you won’t want to miss.
