Samurai Sushi Nashville Alaska roll and Iron Miss roll

Alaska roll and Iron Miss roll

Samurai Sushi is one of our go-tos and has been since freshman year of college, way back in the day! This Nashville staple has been on Elliston Place for as long as we can remember. And for good reason! Its rolls are some of the finest in town.

The quality of the fish at Samurai puts it well above many of the sushi joints we’ve tried around Nashville. Samurai’s rice is always the perfect texture, a balance of stickiness and almost creaminess. Not surprisingly, Samurai won the Tennesean’s 2014 Toast of Music City Award for best sushi in Nashville.

Samurai Sushi main dining roomDuring our last visit, we stopped in for a weekday lunch. We started our meal off with an order of gyoza and a seaweed salad, perfect for sharing between two people. Then came the main attraction.

For our sushi order, we chose an Alaska roll (salmon and avocado) and a tuna roll for our basics. On the fancier side of things, we opted for an Iron Miss roll (tuna, salmon, avocado topped with strawberry, kiwi, mango, eel sauce, and spicy mayo).

And a Dr Larry roll (spicy tuna and fried shrimp topped with mango, avocado, and eel sauce). We were way full toward the end of the meal, but we managed to eat every last grain of rice.

Stop by Samurai for lunch or dinner Monday through Saturday. Or call in and take it to go!
