This month’s Fitness Friday post (and giveaway!) features barre3 – the perfect place to put your summer health goals into action. Barre3 has two locations in Nashville – the Gulch and newly opened Paddock Place. The barre3 philosophy is simple: exercise, nourish, and connect. Barre3 is about more than just their challenging fitness classes sure to make you sweat. The company encourages living a full, healthy lifestyle driven by feeding your body and your mind.
We visited with the inspiring and vivacious Holly Coltea, the owner of Nashville’s barre3 studios to learn more about the company and try out the classes for ourselves! Here is what Holly had to say about life as a barre3 guru and Nashville resident – and keep reading to learn more about our barre3 + In The Middle giveaway…
1. Tell us a little bit about how and why you got involved with barre3.
I lived and worked in NYC for all of my adult life – up until 3 years ago. When my husband and I decided to move to my hometown of Nashville for a lifestyle change with our 3 kids, I had a past colleague approach me about a Portland-based company called barre3. While living in NYC, I had a highly intense corporate career for 15 years and was ready for a change. I wanted this change to involve my passion for wellness and to involve my 3 little girls at the same time. Barre3 encompassed my love of dance and movement with healthy & clean eating. But the most attractive part to me was the community: the family that forms around each barre3 studio, no matter the city. Women, men, and children – helping each other along their journeys to wellness. And I could not think of a better community to introduce barre3 to than my beloved hometown of Nashville.
2. I’m a barre3 newbie – what should I know before trying a class?
Think “Follow The Leader.” No experience in fitness is required. We combine simple, everyday movements with really fun music and bam–suddenly you are sweating and craving more. Truly anyone – men, women, 20, 50, or 70 can do it. Results come quickly because of our signature 3-step sequence, and that is highly motivating for anyone! Just bring a water bottle because you WILL sweat.
3. What is your ideal Nashville day?
Lots of good sleep! I would sleep in until 10. Have a yummy, relaxed breakfast at home on our porch. Then casually head over for a 12:15pm barre3 class at the Paddock Place studio, since it is 5 minutes from my house. Then I would head to Crest Spaah – a Chinese Bodywork place in Green Hills where they rock your body with really intensive massage. Feels like passive exercise. I would meet a close girlfriend or team member at Sunflower Cafe where I would get all of my favorite greens, brussel sprouts, and everything else that stinks up my kitchen! From there, I would head to a pool with my journal or a book from the barre3 book club (every single one is a page turner). And then grill out with my family for a lazy, relaxed summer evening where NO ONE is allowed to wear a watch or bring a cell phone! Pure Summer Bliss!
4. What is your favorite non-workout spot or activity in Nashville?
I really have fallen in love with Radnor Lake. It is so meditative for me to walk around that lake and clear my head. I also adore being home at the house where I grew up. There is nothing like it. Walking in those doors, I completely let go of all responsibility. Hey, sometimes it’s nice to be a little girl again!
5. What’s next for barre3 in Nashville?
Well, after opening two studios in 1 year, I am finally getting to enjoy the ride right now. I would love to introduce barre3 to the Franklin community, but for now, I want to relish in our incredible family of teachers, staff, and clients that we have built in less than 365 days! I am so proud of the health journeys that so many people have begun, and it melts me to witness these men and women as they continue to reach milestones with both their fitness and nutrition goals.
After taking classes at both studios, it is safe to say we are crazy about barre3 and all it has to offer! Because we love it so much, we have joined forces with Holly and the barre3 team to offer a giveaway. One lucky reader will win 3 free classes to barre3 + a barre3 tumbler!
How do you enter? It’s easy! “Like” In The Middle and barre3 (Paddock Place & the Gulch) on Facebook! You can earn additional entries by following In The Middle and barre3 on Instagram. We’ll announce the lucky winner next week – good luck!
