Grimey’s is one of those places that makes Nashville great. This new and pre-loved record store is located on 8th Avenue next to one of Nashville’s beloved music venues, The Basement. It’s easy to get lost among the impressive collection of records in the store, so plan to spend a little time there when you stop in. And it’s definitely more than just a record store – they regularly host events, including live performances, album release parties, and more.
If you’ve been in Nashville for more than 24 hours, you have surely seen something from Bongo Java around town. If you’re looking for breakfast or lunch, stop in Bongo Java on Belmont Blvd. Located next to Proper Bagel and across the way from House Of, Bongo Java has a great porch and spacious inside for a meal or afternoon of work. On the East Side, visit its counterpart in Five Points, Bongo East. Both locations serve up seriously delicious bagel bombs. You can also visit the source of all things Bongo Java coffee at their roasting facility here in town and get a tour of how their coffee is created!
Riverside Grillshack is the ultimate hangover cure on the East Side. We tried the applewood bacon on roasted garlic and rosemary bread with egg and cheese. Yowza! The cheese oozed out onto the griddle and made a crust on the outside of our bread – crunchy, cheesy perfection.
We also ordered the breakfast philly on the same bread with a fried egg. Another winner! Toasty, eggy, and just plain delicious. We can’t wait to go back to try the burger and fries!
The beautifully curated collection of local designs at House Of makes this one of must-visit boutiques in town. Located on Belmont just across from Proper Bagel, this student-run boutique offers a unique selection of clothing, jewelry, and home decor, all sourced from designers right here in Tennessee. Whether you need a card for someone’s birthday, a Nashville-themed gift for your friend from out of town, or want to treat yourself, House Of is the perfect spot to support local artists and makers and find something you (or a loved one) is guaranteed to love.
It’s here, it’s here! It’s finally Tomato Art Fest time again in Nashville. If photos from our adventures at Tomato Fest last year are any indication, you should head over to Five Points in East Nashville to enjoy all the festivities. Plus, this festival is a tradition people have come to town for (in exponentially…
Provence Breads and Cafe is another Hillsboro Village mainstay. This French-inspired bakery and cafe is the perfect spot for a quick bite, cup of coffee, or to pick up baked goods or a cake for a special occasion. On the made-to-order menu, you’ll see a variety of breakfast and lunch items. The pre-made options are also delicious. Choose from sandwiches, like chicken salad, ham, or hummus with fresh veggies, or pick up a salad with grilled chicken or tuna salad. And of course, don’t forget about the bakery!
Apple & Oak will make you smile as soon as you walk through the door. This cute little shop is full of colorful trinkets and collectibles galore, coupled with home decor and wall art. The owner’s style comes through in each of the pieces on display, and we love it.
